The sacredness of space…the smell of routine

Posted on June 30, 2014

For the last 10 months I've been in a huge life experiment...move, adapt, survive, and work. The work part of the equation has been much harder than anticipated. For the last 13 years I've worked on church staffs that offered me the luxury of an office.  In this transition I've found myself working from my dining room table with my lap top or running off to the closest coffee shop.  Even when I worked out of an office I didn't spend much ...

Conversations with myself lately…START

Posted on June 27, 2014

Don't wait for the ten other cities to buy in. Don't wait to have all the kinks ironed out. Don't wait for the website overhaul so it all looks really clean. Don't wait till you're completely out of questions to ask. Don't wait till it doesn't scare you anymore. Don't wait till it makes sense financially. JUST START!!! Start with you. Who cares if it's messy. Who cares if you don't have all the answers. START! ...

Posted on June 25, 2014

That's the question I'm wrestling with today. I'm going on 3+ years now with The Rooster Party and the question is becoming much more real as time rolls on. I just got back from a week long tour with The Rooster Party and I'm stuck with a familiar reality. - I had a great time - I got to further the vision of what we are doing with The Rooster Party - I met with people about future opportunities that could result in sustainability - ...

Oops…I pooped my pants

Oh...you thought I was going to share that story. If you're one of my close friends you've heard the story and it's one for the books!  You're not getting that one out of me on a blog. I'm actually talking about my son Moses.  If you're following my blog you read yesterday about how our house is experiencing the plague.  First Zeke (puke, fever), then Sof (puke, fever), then last night Moses blow up his bed from the other end while he ...

Stay married…it’s worth it just for the stories

Posted on May 28, 2014

I'm gonna make shirts that say that! Today marks my 15 year anniversary being married to this incredible woman. We were able to get away for a day to Boulder last week and it was really great.  This week...not so much.  The day the kids get out of school Zeke comes home and pukes.  Sick for 3 days.  The day he gets better Sof is huggin the toilet.  I got a mole taken off my back, tons of stitches, they say I'm not supposed to bend ...

I'm finding out that most of my problems aren't big enough. My dreams get shut down with funny little things like budgets and blueprints that have worked in the past. I'd really like to build my appetite for the impossible. Possible is boring, and it's been done before...that's what makes it possible! I'd like to wade into the water that hasn't been explored without a life vest and see what happens. The Lord loves risk...it gives ...

We have lost the art of going nowhere

Swings From the very earliest age our parents throw us into these things.  They bring an odd since of comfort and can put most infants into a baby coma for at least an hour, unless they are one of my three kids! As we reach grandpa and grandmadom we revert back to swings.  Usually in the form of rocking chairs or a sweet barcalounger modification of a rocking chair.  I remember watching my grandpa sit in an outdoor swinging chair type ...

Andrew Ehrenzeller || Follow Friday

Ok Roosters...It's Follow Friday at The Rooster Party, and I've got a duzzy! I was in Redding over a year ago when the pre-production was being done on this record, and I haven't been this excited about a release in a long time. If Peter Gabriel and Gabriel the arch angel conspired together to write an epic masterpiece in the sweetest corner of heaven and it was joined by the host of heavens angels directed by Jeremy Edwardson...this is ...

The Boulder floods and my life

Posted on April 24, 2014

Last night it started to rain and I decided it was a good time to go for a walk.  I needed to clear my head so I started off down Left Hand Creek. I quickly realized that the waters were running pretty hard and it reminded me of the floods when we first moved here. When the rains first came to Boulder last year they called it the 100 year flood. That was quickly replaced by a 500 year flood. The last estimation was that it was a 1000 year ...
